I started training to be a mental health nurse when I left school at 17. I've worked in Angus, Perthshire, Aberdeenshire, Australia and New Zealand. When I had finished traveling and decided to come home with my family I found that it was increasingly difficult to incorporate working and having young children, I continued to work part time despite the difficulties. My mum also lost her sight at that time too. Having worked in care all my adult life, and with my mum losing her sight, I am increasingly aware of the need for care to help people stay in their own homes if they wish. Sometimes, as a family member you want to help and you do all you can but being a carer on top of your own family/work commitments is exhausting. My goal is to help ease some of that exhaustion and stress where I live locally.
